Organix Hair Product Review

Saturday I went to Walgreens and I noticed that all of the Organix hair products were on sale, buy one get one FREE! That's a great deal and I'd been meaning to try them out for some time now, so I purchased the Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Brazilian Keratin Therapy Conditioner and the Macadamia Oil Conditioner.  I figured at buy one get one free I could try a couple of them out, to see if there was any difference.

I used my Giovanni Tea Tree shampoo and conditioned with the Brazilian Keratin Therapy Conditioner, to see if it was any better than my Pantene.  My overall impression is that it was 'ok'.  I feel like it was heavy or for some reason it made my hair feel 'weighed down'.  Also, it smells heavenly in the bottle, but after washing, it left very little, if any, scent in my hair.  That was a con for me for sure.  I just let my hair air dry, so I wonder if this conditioner would be better for when I blow dry my hair.  I'll have to try it then.  But overall I wouldn't really use this conditioner as a go to at all.  Not even sure if i'd use regularly, especially considering my dry scalp feels even dryer than usual, despite using the tea tree shampoo.

My hair after washing with the Organix conditioner.  Flatter than usual, a little heavy.  Still not too bad w/flyaways and frizzies.

So I purchased the Organix originally with my daughter in mind (for the Coconut shampoo and conditioner).  I used it tonight on her hair, to see how I liked it.  Overall I'm going to have to give it a thumbs down for her hair.  This was her hair immediately after towel dry, before I put any product on it.  It looked EXTREMELY dry and dull, like it hadn't even been washed or conditioned.  Her hair never looks like this after a wash, so I'm going to attribute it to the shampoo and conditioner.  Afterwards I did put some of her leave-in detangler in, which helped perk up her curls a little more. I put a pic below.  I didn't have a pic of her hair after a fresh wash using her usual products, but next time I will take a picture and update this post.  Overall, Organix products are not really for us.  They seem to be too heavy for my hair and maybe not heavy enough for my daughter's.

My daughter's hair after shampoo/conditioner.  Looks dry, dull, and not really freshly washed,.

My Hair is Super Soft Today...

I've been doing a ton of (internet) research about different hair care lines that are supposed to be great for natural hair.  My daughter has super thick and curly natural hair (a term used, generally, to refer to African-American or mixed hair, free of perm, relaxer, or chemicals).  Natural hair is typically dry and most products that cater towards natural hair are super moisturizing and conditioning.  I've purchased several products and I've been trying different combos to see what works best for her hair.

While I was at Whole Foods last night I stumbled across the Giovanni line of hair care products.  While this line doesn't necessarily cater to "natural" hair, I've read a lot of positive reviews about the Direct Leave in Conditioner being great.  I decided to try it out, especially since there was a $1.00 off coupon attached to the bottle, lol!  I also decided to look at the shampoo, and decided to try the  Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo for myself.  I normally wouldn't use tea tree shampoo on my daughter because it can tend to dry out hair, but I like to use a scalp care shampoo for myself (because I suffer from horrible dry scalp, and I was also fresh out).

Anywho, to get to the point, I used the Giovanni Tea Tree shampoo this morning, and it was divine!!! I honestly didn't notice anything different while washing, but after I washed and combed through it, my hair was noticeably softer.  I didn't blow dry, just let it air dry, and I'm honestly surprised at what a difference it made, considering I followed it with my usual Pantene conditioner, not the Giovanni (I never use a leave in conditioner).  Not only is it super soft, but its shiny, smooth, and I have less 'fly aways' than I normally have. I don't have super great hair, lots of fly aways and some breakage, but I'm pleased with the difference I noticed today.  I'm going to pick up the Smooth as Silk Conditioner next time I'm at the store.

**My usual hair care routine is shampoo with a scalp care/anti-dandruff shampoo, followed by a Pantene shampoo and conditioner.**

The Giovanni line is available at Whole Foods, Target, and Amazon if you ever decide to try them out!

Welcome and Hello!

Hi All!

So glad I've gotten a chance to get back on the internet, and to be starting with a new blogspot page.  I've been through a lot over the past year, and haven't really had a chance to do much of anything.  I created this blog to just share my life stories, my struggles, and my accomplishments (and possibly vent, lol!).  I am embarking on a new life and am approaching things with a new and different attitude.

I look forward to rambling and ranting on here soon!
