My Saturday Night

Saturday night, time to partayyyyyyyyyyyyy. Or not, if you're me. Lol.  So tonight I'm cleaning my face brushes while my Mario Badescu Flower and Tonic masks dries.  So I thought I'd share this post.  This is my first time using the mask, so I can't share my opinion yet.  This was part of my free sample set from Mario Badescu I posted about here.  It smells good, and has a slight refreshing tingle, but not one of those super painful tingles.  As it dries it isn't super hard, so there's not the whole "my face is going to crack and fall off" feeling you get with some masks.

So as far as cleaning my brushes, I just use baby shampoo (or body wash) like most people. because it's super affordable, gentle, and smells great.  I just rinse the brush in warm water, then massage in some baby shampoo and massage/rub until the brush and the water runs clear.  You can easily tell when the brush is clean because the runoff will be clear, and not colored or stained by your makeup.  I really want to try those brush scrubbers from Sigma (see here), but I'd have to think long and hard before that purchase..especially since washing my personal brushes isn't really a chore for me. Anywho, hope you guys are doing something more fun than me!!

NOTD: Nail of the Day

For today's nail I used Sally Hensen's Hard as Nails Xtreme Nail Polish in Mellow Yellow. It's a bright, true to color lemony yellow.  It retails at Ulta for 2.99, super affordable.  It's a cute color, it has grown on me in the past hour since I've had it on.  The formula is just okay, maybe even subpar.  The formula applies unevenly, which means you generally need to apply an extra couple coats, or your second coat has to be super thick.

MAC and ULTA Haul

Picked up a couple things this week, nothing much.  Got my MAC order in the mail yesterday and today I picked up a couple of things from Ulta.  Below is a list of what I picked out, and there are pics further down.   The MAC blush I picked up to use for contouring.  I'm not really great at contouring, especially with liquid.  I've read that Blunt is a favorite in the contouring world because its a matte brown, with no shimmer.  Perfect for a good contour.  Now since my skin is tan, it isn't going to be as "sharp" of a contour, but i'm only looking for something slight anyway, and I think Blunt will be perfect.  Also, I'm trying to get back into liquid eyeliner, and I haven't had a fluidline in ages! Fluidline is great because its formula is forgiving and a bit easier to apply than regular liquid eyeliner.  Blacktrack is very black, and as soon as I use it in a look I will post an updated picture.  I did not want to swatch it today.

NYX and Almay was on sale at Ulta, so that's why I picked up a couple of things (none of which I really needed lol).  I also picked up another "Chic Red" lipstick for my cousin, and my daughter picked out a  NYX 507 lipstick (for her cat--which is a purse). LOL!

MAC:
*Powder Blush in Blunt (a warm matte brown)
*Fluidline in Blacktrack (ultra smooth black gel eyeliner)

ULTA:
*Almay Liquid Lip Balm 800-Rosy Lipped
*Almay Liquid Lip Balm 400-Lilac Love
*NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cobalt
*NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet
*NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black
*NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Purple

**Disclaimer: Excuse my squiggly lines on the eyeliner pic.  I was swatching with my left hand and clearly I'm not good at being lefthanded lol.**

My Birthday Dress (in my head)

So, my birthday is next month, July 26th, and I'm turning the big 3-0! I saw this dress on ASOS curve, and its lovely.  I really want to order it for my bday, but i'd hate to have it sit because I order two sizes too small, can't fit it, and put it in the closet for my bday 2014.  I have a tendency to do that.  The dresses I've bought for the past two years are still in my closet.  I think this dress is simple, sophisticated, and just plain cute.  Not sure if I will order or not, but just thought I'd share. P.S. No matter what size you are, ASOS has a ton of cute finds! And reasonable prices too...check it out.

MAC Tropical Taboo Collection

...Available online at MAC cosmetics now (and Nordstrom), and in stores Thursday, 6/27.  This collection features a combination of permanent and limited edition items.  The collection is divided into two parts (similar to Temperature Rising).  It's MAC Tropical Taboo Face and MAC Tropical Taboo Colour.  It's a pretty big collection, with a lot of items ranging from lipstick, lipgloss, skin finishes, brushes, and so forth. It seems, at first glance, like many of the items are "mineralize" items...like the lipsticks, eyeshadows, and blushes. I must mention, however, that MAC is repromoting the ABLAZE and HEROINE lip liner pencils.  If you missed out on these lipsticks, the lip pencils are equally gorgeous.  And can be used to line the entire lip, FYI.

I personally haven't purchased anything from this collection...yet. Any excitedness (it's a word, for real lol) I had about collections kind of dimmed after the whole RiRi Hearts MAC and MAC's near weekly "launches".  I'm honestly not sure if I'll get anything either.  Nothing in the collection really jumps out to me, but i may go in store to swatch the items.

Here are a couple of promo pics that were in the email I received:

RiRi Hearts MAC-Barbados Girl Lustre Drops

Forgot to post this last night, but yesterday in the mail I received my Barbados Girl Lustre Drops (and back up lipsticks from the collection) and they are absolutely gorgeous! I am not usually a fan of shiny, shimmery things, or bronzer, etc, as I am already "tan", but I think I could see these babies getting some use.  They'd look great as a highlight, or even as an addition to your body lotion to add shimmer all over.  Personally, I don't think I'd use them on my face all over, just maybe on my cheeks or as a highlight.  Either way, these are very pretty and I'm pleased they "accidentally landed" in my online shopping cart! Also, just as a reference, the bottle isn't very large (smaller than I expected, but I've never purchased lustre drops before).  It is 18ML/.60 FL OZ.  Pretty small, see the attached picture as a reference.

RiRi Boy and Heaux...Swatches.

Beautiful colors! Check out the pics below.

RiRi Hearts MAC...DUPES and SWATCHES

So there's been a lot of talk about how "unoriginal" the RiRi Hearts MAC lipsticks have been.  Instead of them (seemingly) being new shades, some believe they are just remakes of old MAC classics.

Ruby Woo=RiRi Woo
Up The Amp=RiRi Boy
Rebel=Heaux

I think you can see the similarities, but they are different lipsticks.  Ultimately you might prefer the RiRi Hearts MAC lipsticks because they all have a retro matte finish, while Ruby Woo is matte, Up The Amp is an amplified, and Rebel is a satin.   I think the most noticeable difference is between Rebel and Heaux...Heaux is less purple...a really really pretty color in my opinion.

Either way, these are some beauties.  Check out the pics below!!

Mario Badescu Samples

I went online and did the Mario Badescu skin analysis a couple of weeks ago, and there were a few recommendations based on my responses.  Later that day (or maybe the next day) I got an email asking if I wanted samples of the recommendations.  Of course y'all know I said yes, lol.  So I got the samples in the mail this week and here are some pics below.  I've gotta say the package is pretty impressive.  Inside its got my skin recommendations and product description, as well as instructions! It definitely seems like a lot of work, but I'm going to try this exclusively for the next two weeks or so (till my product runs out) to see how I like it.

My eight samples came with a Product Guide (all Mario Badescu products) and an Application Guide (special, for just me).  I have combination oily skin so my recommendations were:

1. Enzyme Cleansing Gel-for morning and night wash.
2. Special Cucumber Lotion-for morning and night toner.
3. Hydro Moisturizer with Vitamin C-day moisturizer.
4. Hyaluronic Eye Cream-day and night eye cream.
5. Seaweed Night Cream-night moisturizer.
6. Drying Cream-for any acne flare up.
7. Almond and Honey Non-Abrasive Face Scrub-use two to three times a week.
8. Flower and Tonic Mask-use  two to three times a week.

I will update this post for a final review of the products, and which ones I will repurchase (if any).  Now, if I could just get my hands on a Clarisonic Mia 2 i'd be in heaven! LOL...I've wanted one for ages now!

Super Mini Haul from Ulta and Dollar General (yes, Dollar General)

Check out the pics below, but when I was randomly walking into Dollar General I saw these Wet N Wild palettes, and I've actually seen pics and tutorials using them, and they looked great, so I wanted to check it out.  The eyeliner was 50% off so I grabbed it to.

When I went to Ulta I picked up 2 of the Kate (Rimmel brand) lipsticks, the new  Lasting Matte collection.   These lipsticks are described as "Sumptuously Rich Matte Colour with a sublime comfort". I also picked up NYX's eyeshadow base in which.  I've heard great things about the eyeshadow base, and it will help colors that aren't so great stand out much better.  Reviews coming soon.

Items:

Kate Lasting Matte lipstick in 103 (pink)
Kate Lasting Matte lipstick in 109 (coral)
NYX eyeshadow base in White
Cover Girl Line Exact defining eyeliner in Very Black
Wet N Wild 382B Cool as a Cucumber palette
Wet N Wild C736 Petal Pusher palette

RIRI Hearts MAC--On Sale NOW.

And probably selling out fast.  I seriously waited for FOREVER and got timed-out three different times, after the stuff was in my cart. This is so unnecessary and overboard, ugh.  Part of the blame is that Rihanna let her 'fans' know this was going on sale today, so I believe part of the clogging is from her fans.  Seriously, two hours to checkout? Ridiculous.

RIRI (Hearts) MAC--LAUNCHES 6/18/2013

Don't forget!!! Tomorrow the collection launches! Usually MAC collections launch at around 12:00am or sometime in the wee hours of the morning, but when MAC launched RiRi Luvs MAC it launched at 12:00pm, so I would think it will launch around the same time.  Either way, if you go in the wee hours of the morning MAC will likely post the launch time.  I posted details on the collection here....so check it out.  I'm super excited to get my hands on Heaux and RiRi Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: Temptalia has swatches up, so go check them out now at Temptalia.com

MAC All About Orange--SWATCHES (FINALLY)!!

Check out the pictures below...I know I bought these a week or two ago, but I never got around to swatching them for you guys (IE I haven't opened them up until this point lol).  This is a really beautiful collection with beautiful colors..check out my earlier post for the details on the All About Orange collection.  Unfortunately, most of the items are likely sold out by now, but here are swatches just for you to reference.  Keep in mind that these lipsticks, due to their finishes and light pigmentation, are likely to look different on people with different pigmented lips and different colors.  I'm a medium deep skin tone (deep tan) so these lippies probably don't show up the same as they would with someone who has light or light to medium skin.  Anywho, see below.  I promise that everyday this week I will try and wear one of these all day, so you can see a full face of makeup/lipstick instead of just the small swatch.  It might help provide a better insight into the color of these.

The lipstick collection consisted of 7 lipsticks, 3 cremesheen glosses, 3 blush and 4 nail polish.  I never really purchase the nail polish, and out of this collection I bought 5 lipsticks, 1 cremesheen and 1 blush.  The two lipsticks I didn't buy were Neon Orange (it's part of the permanent pro collection, I can always get it later down the line when it's back in stock...and its super bright, brighter than Sounds of Noise from the Haley Williams collection) and Tangerine Dream (weird yellowy orange color, I did not like the way it looked on me, it was sort of grainy/sparkly and just not really appealing to me).  The only blush I got was Royal Sunset, a pretty blush with pinky undertones.  Immortal Sunset was a bit too light for me, and Honey Jasmine was pretty, but on me it looked "dirty" if that makes sense.  I picked up 1 of the cremesheen glosses, but I'm returning it lol so I didn't post it.  I forgot (when buying) that I'm not a fan of the cremesheen glosses...they're $20 and you get less product than the $15 lipglass, with a worse finish (in my opinion).  I like the lipsticks, but my faves are probably Sushi Kiss and Tart & Trendy (ironically, the ones that showed the most).

The 5 lipsticks I bought are (LEFT TO RIGHT):  Sweet & Sour (cremesheen), Razzle-Dazzler (lustre), Flamingo (lustre), Sushi Kiss (satin), Tart & Trendy (lustre).
